*** NOTE: DEPENDING ON THE SITUATION, THESE STEPS MAY BE OUT OF ORDER ***
STEP 1:
Make sure the aircraft is eligible for import. This means that the aircraft modifications/STCs have FAA equivalent approval. We can provide this service.
STEP 2:
Purchase the aircraft.
STEP 3:
Reserve an N number for the import.
STEP 4:
Transport the aircraft to the USA
STEP 5:
Deregister the aircraft in Canada. Once deregistration is complete, you can register it in the USA.
STEP 6:
The aircraft must have an FAA N number on it prior to being issued an airworthiness certificate. Arrange paint/order decals during the wait period.
STEP 7:
Prepare the paperwork. This includes all the 337s and forms filled out for the DAR to review. Create an entry in the AWC portal for FAA DAR assignment.
STEP 8:
A 100 hour inspection must be completed within 30 days of issuing the airworthiness certificate. We recommend waiting to schedule an appointment with the DAR until this is completed.
STEP 9:
Schedule a time with the DAR to issue the airworthiness certificate.
STEP 10:
Once the airworthiness certificate is issued, you're ready to go fly!
